PVC Sheets to Doha — Air Freight from Shenzhen

A signage and fit-out contractor in Doha needed PVC sheets from a Shenzhen supplier. The sheets were bound for a commercial fit-out with a fixed handover date, so sea freight was off the table — the cargo had to fly.

PVC sheet is the classic volumetric shipment: light for its size, awkward to handle, and priced by volume, not weight. A pallet of stacked sheet that weighs 300 kg can bill at the equivalent of 900 kg once the airline applies its volumetric divisor. For this reason the freight quote was based on chargeable weight, and packing decided most of the cost.

The sheets left the factory flat and were kept flat through transport. Rolling or bending them to force a smaller box would have cracked the boards and voided the fit-out work, so we protected the edges, banded the stack to a single skid and wrapped it against moisture for the flight — Doha’s humidity is not kind to unprotected PVC edges.

From Shenzhen to Hamad International the shipment moved in 4–7 days door-to-door. The client collected the sheets at Doha without customs delays and the fit-out hit its handover date.
