Quick Answer: Express Courier from China — Costs & Delivery Times

Express courier from China delivers parcels, samples and documents door to door in 2–7 days. We book DHL, FedEx, UPS and Aramex under contract rates that typically run 30–70% below public counter prices, and we prepare the invoice, the HS code and the destination documentation so the parcel clears without a hold.

Express is economical up to about 45 kg per consignment; above that, air freight is usually cheaper. Billing uses chargeable weight — the higher of actual and volumetric weight — so packaging decisions change the price as much as the courier choice does.

💡 PRO TIP: Want the best express courier cost from China? Send your cargo details — weight, dimensions, pickup city and destination — and our team will compare options for you as soon as possible.

What Is Express Courier from China?

Express courier is parcel-level transport through an integrated network: the courier collects, flies, clears and delivers under one tracking number, usually within a working week. We act as the booking channel and the documentation layer — you get the negotiated rate and the paperwork done correctly, rather than standing at a counter with a public price list.

It is the right service for samples and approval units, small replenishment that cannot wait for a consolidation, spare parts, documents, replacement units for customer complaints, and first production runs where the buyer wants to see the goods before placing a full container order.

When Express Beats Air Freight

Express and air freight overlap between roughly 20 kg and 100 kg. Below the break-even, express wins on total cost because there are no separate airport handling, brokerage or delivery charges; above it, air freight wins because the per-kilo rate drops with volume.

A quick rule: if the shipment fits on one pallet and weighs under 45 kg, ask for express first. If it is two pallets or more, ask for air freight — and if you can wait three weeks, ask for LCL.

How Express Billing Works

Couriers charge on chargeable weight — the higher of actual weight and volumetric weight, calculated as Length (cm) × Width (cm) × Height (cm) ÷ 5000 for express services.

Example: a 40 × 30 × 20 cm parcel weighing 1.5 kg has a volumetric weight of 40 × 30 × 20 ÷ 5000 = 4.8 kg, so it bills at 5 kg.

  • Minimum billing weight is normally 0.5 kg, then rounded up to the next 0.5 kg
  • Fuel surcharge is added as a percentage of the freight and moves monthly
  • Remote-area and out-of-delivery-zone addresses carry an extra fee per shipment
  • Oversize or overweight parcels reprice to freight rates rather than parcel rates
  • Packing compactly genuinely pays: vacuum bags on soft goods can cut a parcel from 8 kg chargeable to 4 kg

Batteries, Liquids and Restricted Items

  • Lithium batteries — built-in batteries travel on selected services with the right declaration; standalone power banks are restricted on many lanes
  • Liquids, aerosols and perfumes — accepted on specific courier services with a safety data sheet, and refused on others
  • Powders and chemicals — need an MSDS and a full commodity description before booking
  • Magnets — require magnetic field testing and packing that shields the field
  • Branded goods — a brand authorisation letter prevents a customs hold on IP-sensitive categories

Send the product details when you request the quote. A two-minute conversation about the battery type is cheaper than a parcel returned from an airline screening point.

Documents, Duties and the Customs Side

  • Commercial invoice with a real product description, declared value and HS code — a generic description such as “gift” or “sample” invites inspection
  • Destination tax registration where required — an EORI number for the EU, a VAT or GST number on some lanes
  • Duties and taxes: the $800 US de minimis exemption has been suspended for all origins since August 2025, so commercial parcels from China now require an entry and full duty payment at every value
  • DDP courier options are available for selected lanes, so the recipient is not asked to pay duty on delivery
  • We prepare and transmit the paperwork; you keep the file for your own records

Where We Deliver

  • Business addresses, offices and industrial units
  • Residential addresses, including signature-required deliveries
  • Amazon fulfillment centers and other marketplace warehouses, with the labels applied before collection
  • 3PL and prep centres, so stock can be checked and consolidated before going to Amazon
  • Multiple consignees — split deliveries to several addresses under one booking

What Can Delay an Express Parcel

  • Incomplete customs data — a vague description or a missing HS code is the most common cause of a hold
  • Prohibited or restricted contents discovered at screening, which can return the parcel to origin
  • Destination duties unpaid on DDU shipments, where the courier invoices the recipient
  • Peak weeks — November and December slow every network, and cut-off times move earlier
  • Remote addresses, where the last mile adds one or two days regardless of the courier
  • Public holidays at either end, including Chinese New Year and the destination’s national holidays

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How fast is express courier from China?
2–7 days door to door depending on the destination and the courier service. Asia and the Middle East are usually fastest; Africa and South America sit at the slower end.
What is the maximum weight for express?
Express is economical up to about 45 kg per consignment. Above that, consolidated air freight usually costs less, and we will tell you when the crossover happens for your route.
How is the express cost calculated?
Chargeable weight — the higher of actual weight and volumetric weight (L × W × H cm ÷ 5000) — multiplied by the rate for that weight band and destination zone, plus the fuel surcharge and any remote-area fee.
Can you ship batteries by express?
Yes, on selected courier services with the required battery declarations, and not all lanes accept standalone lithium batteries. Send the battery details at the quote stage so we route it compliantly.
Is express really cheaper than public courier prices?
Under our contract rates, typically 30–70% below the counter price — the difference is largest on regular lanes and heavier parcels.
Who pays the duties on an express parcel?
On DDU shipments the recipient is billed by the courier. On DDP lanes we settle the duties as part of the price. Either way the invoice and HS code have to be accurate before the parcel flies.
Can you deliver to Amazon FBA or a 3PL?
Yes. We deliver to Amazon fulfillment centres, prep centres and 3PL warehouses, and for FBA destinations we apply the labels before collection so the parcel is not refused at receiving.
Do you handle samples and documents?
Yes — samples, documents and small test orders are the core of this service, and they can be marked and declared correctly so customs does not treat a sample as commercial stock.
